East Java is home to some of Indonesia’s most iconic natural wonders, including Mount Bromo, Ijen Crater, and Tumpak Sewu Waterfall. These three destinations are among the most Instagrammable spots in the region, offering breathtaking landscapes and unforgettable scenery.
Whether you have a long holiday or just a limited amount of time, this tour is designed to cover all three highlights in one efficient trip. In just 3 days and 2 nights, you’ll experience the best of East Java’s nature and adventure.
TOUR ITINERARY
DAY 1: MALANG – TUMPAK SEWU WATERFALL – BROMO AREA (OVERNIGHT)
We recommend an early start at around 6:00 AM from Malang. If you arrive by flight or train, the schedule can be adjusted accordingly. The drive to Tumpak Sewu Waterfall takes approximately 2 hours.
The best time to visit the waterfall is between 6:00–10:00 AM, when the weather is pleasant and the area is less crowded. Along the way, you’ll enjoy views of volcanoes, villages, rice fields, and a scenic abandoned bridge.
Upon arrival, a short walk will take you to the panoramic viewpoint of Tumpak Sewu, offering a spectacular 180-degree view of the waterfall. Drone photography is allowed at this viewpoint.
Afterward, you’ll trek down for about 40 minutes to reach the base of the waterfall. The trail can be slippery and rocky, so following the guide’s instructions is essential. At the bottom, you’ll be surrounded by dramatic cliffs and lush forest. The entire exploration takes around 3–4 hours, depending on your pace.
After finishing the visit, we’ll continue the journey to the Mount Bromo area for an overnight stay (approximately 4 hours drive).
DAY 2: MOUNT BROMO SUNRISE TOUR – BROMO CRATER TREK – TRANSFER TO BANYUWANGI (OVERNIGHT)
The day starts early at around 3:00 AM. You’ll ride a local jeep for about 45 minutes to reach Kingkong Hill, one of the best sunrise viewpoints at Mount Bromo.
While waiting for sunrise (around 5:30 AM), you can enjoy hot coffee or tea. Once the sun rises, you’ll move to the best spot to capture the stunning view of Mount Bromo and its surroundings.
After sunrise, we’ll descend to the Sea of Sand and continue with a 45-minute trek to the crater of Mount Bromo. The trail is relatively easy. At the crater rim, you’ll see and smell sulfuric smoke rising from the active volcano.
Afterward, return to the hotel for breakfast and refreshment, then continue the journey to Banyuwangi for an overnight stay. The drive from Bromo to Banyuwangi takes approximately 6 hours.
DAY 3: IJEN CRATER TREK – TRANSFER TO KETAPANG HARBOR
The final day begins around 2:00 AM with a one-hour drive to Paltuding, the starting point of the Ijen trek. The hike to the crater rim takes about 1.5–2 hours, depending on your pace.
At the top, you’ll be guided to the best viewpoints to enjoy the sunrise and the stunning turquoise crater lake of Ijen, known as one of the largest acidic lakes in Asia.
After enjoying the scenery, we’ll return to the hotel for breakfast. At around 11:00 AM, transfer to Ketapang Harbor, where you’ll take a ferry to Gilimanuk Harbor (Bali).
OPTIONAL PROGRAM: IJEN BLUE FIRE
If weather and conditions allow, you can join the Ijen Blue Fire Tour. This requires an earlier departure from the hotel around midnight–1:00 AM. This activity is optional and subject to safety conditions.
